An Enchanting Gradient

Ok so that's about as inventive as  I get people :)

Super simple post today! I follower the amazing gradient tutorial over at The Nailasaurus and used Ulta3 Jade and Ulta3 Enchanted. As the tutorial outlines I added drops of each polish to a pad of paper, mixed where they join and then applied it to my make-up sponge and onto my nails. Then I finished it off with OPI RapiDry Top Coat.

I LOVE THIS!! It's just AMAZING! I got so many compliments on this manicure and it's so easy to do. Although it's just a simple gradient the end result is so beautiful and the shimmer is stunning!

Flame Nails

I wanted to attempt the gorgeous flame nails that I have seen popping up in honour of The Hunger Games release. I mostly followed the amazing tutorial here over at Nails by Kayla Shevonne. Although it was extremely easy to follow I need a lot more practice :( I used orange and red for my gradient, instead of just red, and I did the design the opposite way around with the black at the top, instead of the bottom, of the nail.

Although not a step by step since Kayla's tutorial is fantastic I did take photos of each stage just to show what it looked like and to add comments about each step.

First I sponged Ulta3 Mango Mayhem onto almost 2/3 of my nails.

Then I sponged Revlon Revlon Red onto the top 1/3 of my nails.

At this point I would suggest you add a to coat since I found it a PITA to try and draw the outline of the flame on the uneven surface created from sponging the polishes. Then using OPI Black Onyx and a small brush I outlined the flames. Lol sorry got a bit excited and filled in one nail to see what it looked like!

Then I used the OPI brush to added drops of Black Onyx and then used the small nail art brush to fill in the rest of the black. Since the black filled up more of my nail than I had intended I sponged on some more Revlon Revlon Red at the tips of the flames.

Then finally I cleaned up the mess I had made on my fingers and added a thick coat of Seche Vite.

If I ever did this manicure again I would try to keep the black higher up my nails as on my left hand the black takes up almost half my nails. Oh and do better flames! Hehe although I suck at nail art this has got to be one of the coolest I have ever done!

Maybelline Party Blue Glittery Gradient with Geometic Design

So this was the final design I ended up with after using my Maybelline Party Blue manicure and the gradient that followed.

Using the simple gradient design I stamped the geometric design from Konad Image Plate M25 in Konad Special Polish White don the centre of each nail. Wanting something glittery I used BYS Starlette applied to the top 2/3 of the nail and then added a nice thick coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat.


Unfortunately I only have photo's of this in artificial light.

 

  

I really love this design! I know there's a lot going on but every part of it calls to me. I love the blues, the glitter, even the geometric stamp that you can just see! If I was to do this design again I would use a three colours gradient as the base and then apply the glitter to the entire nail.

Maybelline Party Blue Gradient

This was the gradient design I did for my How To: Sponge Technique tutorial. It was a very basic gradient only using two colours.

The colours I used were:

• Maybelline Party Blue
• Maybelline Denim Dash

Since I already had Party Blue on I placed some Denim Dash onto my pad of paper and then placed my sponge into the nail polish. Then I sponged it onto the top half of my nail. Once it was dry I used Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat.

Then I took these photo's in natural light however it was late in the day and there was no direct sunlight.

 

Just a very simple design for today since I plan to do more with this but I just don't have the time at the moment. So that's it, a basic two colour gradient design.
