Essie Sand Tropez

NUBBINS people - I'm down to NUBBINS!!!! Ok crazy outburst over! The reason I'm down to nubbins is that I had a job interview which is why I cut them down so short. It's also the reason I picked Essie Sand Tropez to paint my nails :) A nice nude colour from the Spring 2011 Collection!

I used Sally Hansen Triple Strong for my base coat. Then I applied two coats of Sand Tropez which was a breeze to apply. Finally I topped it off with OPI RapiDry Top Coat which is amazing! It dries not just to the touch but all the layers underneath very quickly. Unfortunately I only have  a mini of it at the moment :(

Pictures ahead! However my shot in natural light was just when the sun was going down.

Sand Tropez is a gorgeous beige cream but I think it just doesn't work with my skin tone. I think perhaps I need something leaning towards pink not more of a mushroom shade. So although I love the colour, I don't love it on me :(

  1. It's a lovely shade--I'm going to look for it next shopping trip! I'm always on the hunt for pretty, light cremes and beiges, and it's nice to hear about a pale Essie with smooth application. Especially one that's this opaque in 2 coats!

I honestly don't think they look like nubbins at all. Maybe they're shorter than you're used to, but your nail beds are so nice and long that they look really pretty at this length too. I'd hire those nails in a heartbeat!

    1. It is lovely :) I have a few shades that I think of as my nude and appropriate shades and so far this one is my favourite!

To me they're nubbins because the only have about 2mm of growth which for me is very short O.o Thank you! I'm happy to hear they still look nice at this length :)

  3. Your nail beds are so long, your nubbins don't look bad at all. I decided to chop mine as I didn't want them to look so long so they are 4mm over which probably makes them shorter than yours just now!

p.s. I wore black and white polka dots to my job interview last June for the job I'm in now...

    1. Aww thank you! I never actualy thought I had long nail beds because I so rarely have them short but I guess they are a reasonable length.

Haha I wish I was brave enough to wear anything other than a nude to interviews. I actually had bright orange and blue nails for another interview by accident when they asked my to come in earlier and I didn't get a chance to remove it :)

    2. Me too... I always worry about how many coats it would take.

    3. Oooh yeah that too :) Mostly I worry about whether that will suit my skin tone. Ironically enough I will happy grab a bottle of any colour but when it comes to nudes I always hesitate and think 'will this suit me' O.o

    1. I think it's a lovely shade too but that it would look better on a different skin tone :)

  6. It's a gorgeous colour but I swear it looks better on me in the photos than in real life :)

  7. Love the color! I have trouble finding neutrals that suit my skin tone, so I know what you mean about loving it though not on you. :-)

    1. Thank you! Neutrals are always the hardest to pick :( It's such a shame because this is a beautiful shade just not for me :/

    1. I'm into oranges at the moment lol! I usually only pick neutrals if it's work related.
