Step By Step: Angled Accent with Flowers

I thought I would do a Step By Step guide on how I achieved the nail design I posted yesterday. So I'll get straight into it!

What you'll need:

  • Nail Polish - base colour - Revlon Iced Mauve
  • Nail Polish - for accent - Maybelline Colorama Dark Plum
  • Scotch Tape
  • Scissors
  • Image Plate - M25
  • Scraper
  • Stamper
  • Konad Special Nail Polish - or any polish that works for stamping - Konad Special Polish White
  • Cotton Pads
  • Nail Polish Remover
  • Top Coat
  • Pad of paper/ Paper towel

Step 1: Apply your base coat and then however many coats of your chosen base colour. I used Revlon Iced Mauve as my base colour for this design.

Step 2: Ensure your base colour is completely dry. Cut ten pieces of scotch tape long enough to cover your nail.

Step 3: Stick the scotch tape to your palm repeatedly until you get rid of most of the stickiness. Then place the scotch tape at an angle across your nail. I prefer to do all of one hand at a time.

Step 4: Once taped down and the edge sealed, add a coat of your chosen nail polish for the accent. I used Maybelline Colorama Dark Plum.

Step 5: Once you've painted the accent remove the scotch tape straight away. I paint a whole hand then go back to the first finger and remove the tape. Since I was in a hurry my base colour wasn't completely set. Don't worry if the line isn't perfect as it will be covered by the Konad stamp.

Step 6: Next prepare the items you will need for your Konad stamping. I used Konad Special Polish White and Konad image plate M25. Apply the polish to the plate, scrape and stamp. Then align the image on the stamper across the line linking the two colours and stamp. Repeat this for your other nails.

Highlighted is the design I used for this manicure

Step 7: Once finished apply a top coat. I applied Seche Vite Quick Dry as I didn't want to ruin my manicure by accidentally dragging the Konad stamps. That's all there is to it! Here is the end product:

Oops, sorry about the specials price tag on the bottle I didn't notice until I had taken the photo's!
